SOURCING BACTERIOSTATIC WATER IN AUSTRALIA

Bacteriostatic (BAC) water is a solution of sterile water and 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a preservative that prevents bacterial growth in the vial contents (to an extent). It's the solution you will need to use to reconstitute a peptide vial of lyophilised (freeze-dried) powder to convert it to it's liquid form.

BAC water is different to "sterile water for injections" as it can be drawn from multiple times, unlike sterile water which needs to be discarded after one use due to the lack of a preservative. Therefore, to keep a reconstituted peptide vial safe for research use for several weeks, the BAC water is an absolute must.

It is recommended to be discarded after 28 days as it may have undergone some degradation of the preservative or been contaminated in the drawing process. 10ml vials are best in this case but it is more cost effective to purchase in 20-30ml vials. For my non-therapeutic research I have used vials much longer than this, always upholding sterility standards such as keeping it in the fridge, in a dark, sterile container, always hand washing then alcohol swabbing the top of the vial before every single needle insertion and observing the vial closely for any particles or lack of clarity.

The recognised gold standard for BAC water in the research community is the branded Pfizer Hospira Bacteriostatic Water for Injection. It typically comes in a 30ml vial at a cost of $40 or more. However it can be very hard to source it in Australia. It is sold by Aussie BAC Water, at $38 plus $12 shipping, but I have personally not purchased it there for my research.

In my own research, I have purchased BAC water on Amazon by Glass Vials Australia in 20ml for $35 with free shipping and had no issues with the product. I have also sourced 10ml vials from Premium Supplements where it is regularly $15 per vial or less if you buy more, but also sometimes part of the companies sale promos and $10-$15 shipping for orders under $100. The product has not presented any issues in my research so far.

Any supplier you buy from is at your own risk and of course all products are not sold for therapeutic use.

Enjoy your research :)
